Named the No. 1 Destination In The World 2017 By Travellers Choice, Trip Advisor – Bali simply had to be top of this list! The Indonesian island offers it visitors a diverse range of activities and opportunities to immerse yourself in Balinese culture. From rice terraces, to volcanoes and surfing, to temple hunting there really is something for everyone.
Sleeping in a glass igloo or an ice hotel should be on everyone’s bucketlist! Exploring Lapland in Finland is a once in a lifetime experience where you can go husky or reindeer sledging, snow mobile, go on an icebreaker, see the northern lights, go ice fishing and so much more! And spending the night in a glass igloo means you can watch the northern lights from the comfort of your own bed!
The land of fire and ice! Lately Iceland has been becoming more and more popular with travellers, and quite rightly since there is so much diversity in the landscape of the country. But the best part of Iceland is not matter how popular it has become, you can still feel like you have wide open spaces all to yourself! Rent a car and go on a road trip around the island – stopping to see the black sand beach, the countless waterfalls and of course to take a dip in the Blue Lagoon.
In the last 10 – 15 years a lot has changed in this country in terms of tourism. Infrastructure improvements mean that it is easier to get to the main cities in the country and to travel between them. The Cambodian people struggled through a very difficult history during the Kymer Rouge period, but that has not dampened their spirit and genuine happiness that you are visiting their country. It’s already busy with tourists here, but go before it becomes even busier.
Myanmar, formerly Burma, has opened up to tourism much more since the military rule in the country ended in 2011. Your social feeds will likely have been filled with beautiful images of hot air balloons in Bagan prompting you to add this place to your bucketlist. As with other countries in Asia it is only a matter of time before there is a significant increase in the number of tourists visiting, so make sure to get there in 2017 to beat the crowds!
Nothing can quite describe the feeling you have entering the gates to the Taj Mahal, the most iconic building in India. This magical place should be somewhere that everyone tries to reach once in their lifetime. But India has a lot more to offer, with numerous cities painted to specific colours, such as Jaipur ‘The Pink City’, Jodhpur ‘The Blue City’ and Jaisalmer ‘The Golden City’, incredible colour and life to be seen on the banks of the Ganges, the waterways of Kerala and so much more.
Cruising through the glaciers in Alaska is like nothing you have ever experienced. The true colours of the ice are said to only be seen by natural sight and cannot truly be captured by a camera, so this is a place that you must visit in person! Travelling by cruise ship means you can see areas not accessible by land, plus you get the opportunity to spot killer whales right from the deck, you can glide past the glaciers and stop at some of the prettiest towns throughout Alaska.
Ecuador is one the most diverse countries in South America, one day you can be exploring the Amazon, the next experiencing the old city of Cuzco, ziplining in the activity capital of Banos, whale watching or surfing at the beaches of Montanita or venturing over to the Galapagos Islands. Since Ecuador’s size is not as a great as other South American countries it is possible to visit all of these places over the course of a few weeks!
Often overlooked in favour of its Asian neighbours, Malaysia offers it visitors arguably more beautiful beaches and sites with less crowds. The country is full of diversity, you can be exploring the street art of Penang, before heading to the beaches of Langkawi or the Perhentian Islands, and then travel up to the tea plantations of then Cameron Highlands.
We’ve all seen those adorable photos of travelers swimming with pigs at Pig Beach. What girl doesn’t want a drool worthy photo swimming in crystal blue water with a baby pig by her side? Exuma is a district of the Bahamas, consisting of over 365 islands (also called cays). The largest of the cays is Great Exuma, which is connected to Little Exuma island by a small bridge. Here you can swim with pigs and friendly sharks, and frolic with iguanas on white sand beaches. This place is every animal lovers dream!
Italians call Positano, “Heaven on earth,” and it is easy to see why. When you first catch a glimpse of Positano, it will take your breath away. All the little houses, restaurants and shops hanging on cliffs, greet you with vibrant colors and rich, warm character. From London, you hop on a 2.5 hr flight to Naples, and from there, you take an hour car ride down the Amalfi Coast to village of Positano. The drive is gorgeous, with jagged cliffs dropping straight into the ocean and green mountains, painted with colorful little towns, that shoot up to the sky.
Japan is an island nation in the Pacific Ocean that boasts a seemingly effortless blend of ancient tradition with modern life. We Are Travel Girls will be hosting a girl’s ski trip to Japan spring 2018, so if you are interested in joining us please submit your trip interest.
Thailand is a gorgeous country that prides itself on hospitality. Thai people are incredibly nice, the food is amazing and the country is diverse and magical. It is also very affordable, making Thailand a popular destination among tourists, but despite this they have managed to hang on to their deep cultural roots and heritage.
Dubai is the capital city of the emirate of Dubai, located on the Persian Gulf, in the United Arab Emirates, known for modern architecture, luxury shopping, a bustling nightlife, and superb hospitality. Dubai also has beautiful beaches, excellent restaurants, and is very safe, making it a perfect spot for a girl’s getaway, or a family trip to the Middle East.
Ireland is a breathtakingly gorgeous country! Separated from Great Britain to its east by the North Channel, the Irish Sea, and St George’s Channel, Ireland is an island nation with the most welcoming, fun-loving people on the planet. Ireland is very safe, so this is a great place to visit solo. And there is much to explore outside the capital city of Dublin, so pack your bags and get ready for a great adventure!
London is arguably one of the best cities in the world, rich with culture and history. Houses of Parliament, the iconic ‘Big Ben’ clock tower, Westminster Abbey, St Paul’s Cathedral and Buckingham Palace are just a few of the amazing sites you should plan see on our first trip to the capital city of England. And no trip to the London would be complete without a proper high tea!

This underrated country is starting to gain popularity in the travel world so we recommend adding Montenegro to your 2017 trip itinerary so you can experience it now, in its pristine state.
When most people think of Greece they usually think of the popular islands of Santorini and Mykonos, but there are so many other uncrowded islands and towns to explore in this beautiful southeastern European country. Greece is also very affordable right now, making it a great destination to visit in 2017!
If luxury travel is your thing, and you are not budget conscious, St Barts is the island to visit in 2017. While getting here is not easy (you have to fly to St Martin and take a puddle jumper plane over), when you arrive in this gorgeous Caribbean escape you will instantly realize the journey was well worth it! Welcome to paradise. Because of the price tag and the non-existent direct flights, St Barts has remained ultra exclusive and pristine, with gorgeous white sand beaches, clear beautiful water, fantastic restaurants and great beach clubs. And if you want to get active this little island also offers a big variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, paddle boarding, sailing, snorkeling, and surfing.
