The White Mansion lives up to its name, presenting a unique luxury hotel in central Phnom Penh. The former Residence of the United States embassy, the hotel has a very interesting history behind it and a wonderful style.
Large white columns, an iconic winding staircase, and an exquisite on-site French bakery all contribute to making the White Mansion a very welcoming and comfortable hotel.
The Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh is growing quickly and the White Mansion it a great place to experience it!
A Romantic Stay At The White Mansion, Phnom Penh
Upon pulling up to the White Mansion, you will immediately notice an air of luxury and style. Decorated in a simple and elegant white theme, the hotel is a perfect couple’s getaway.
The sweeping lobby makes you feel immediately comfortable, with a separate seating area perfect for a quiet chat. Going upstairs from the lobby is equally as impressive, especially if you take the beautiful winding staircase!
The rooms all maintain the same level of elegant luxury as the main entrance. There are 3 room classes, with Deluxe, Junior Suite, and Suite categories.
I was lucky enough to stay in the Junior Suite which was absolutely beautiful. I was immediately impressed by the high ceilings and the decoration on the recessed ceiling.
The room was simply huge with plenty of space for me and my husband to spread out, with a separate seating area perfect to have a relaxed dinner and a movie date night in the room!
Eric Kayser French Bakery
The White Mansion’s on-site Eric Kayser restaurant was another part of the hotel that far exceeded my expectations. If you book directly through the hotel you will get breakfast included, which I highly recommend.
The breakfast is an unlimited sampling of some of the best options, including absolutely delicious crepes and their famous croissant which has won “Best Croissant” in several countries around the world!
You can also eat in the restaurant all day, order it up to your room through the speedy room service, or enjoy your lunch poolside in one of the shaded cabanas.
Maximum Relaxation
The 25 meter pool is an intimate and quiet spot, perfect to relax the day away. It was easy to get a sun lounger during my entire stay, as well as complimentary private cabanas complete with misters in the shade.
When you’ve had your fill of sun you can take advantage of the on-site spa, which offers all sorts of treatments including massages, body scrubs, and facials. While I didn’t have time to experience any of the spa treatments myself, I definitely have them on my list for my next visit!
In The Middle Of It All
When you are ready to venture out from the hotel, you will find that the White Mansion is perfectly located. The hotel is a quick walk to many of the best spots in Phnom Penh, including countless good restaurants and landmarks.
Some of my favourite landmarks nearby were the Independence Monument, the Royal Palace, and the National Museum.
There were always tuk-tuks available for hire in front and the hotel was able to arrange airport transfer for me, as well as any other day tours you might be interested in. Be sure to have a chat with the friendly front desk staff to get their opinion on the best nearby activities to see what they recommend!
As Phnom Penh continues to grow in popularity, I think more people will discover what a great city it is. The White Mansion was a perfect place to base my adventures from, with luxury accommodation at a very affordable price.
The hotel is a wonderful getaway for couples or adults looking to unwind after a busy day, so be sure to give it a look next time you are in town!

This is a beautiful hotel but was never the “historical Residence of the American Embassy in Phnom Penh.” It was built opposite the ambassador’s residence at the time by a government official who never moved in because the street was closed to traffic. It was used for storage by the embassy for a while.
