Welcome to Santa Barbara County’s most secluded oceanfront hotel, Bacara Resort & Spa. Located in Goleta, overlooking the Pacific Ocean, this Mediterranean-style 5-star luxury resort is just 0.6 miles from Sandpiper Golf Course and a quick fifteen-minute drive from downtown Santa Barbara. For families, friends or couples looking to get away from it all, and relax and unwind at the beach, the Bacara provides the ideal location.
MY EXPERIENCE AT BACARA REORT
This was my second time staying at the Bacara and I loved it just as I did the first time. Your daily resort fee of US $25 covers a complimentary bottle of local wine that will be waiting for you in your room when you arrive, high-speed internet access, and use of the gym and the spa. It was my friend’s birthday so we spent an entire afternoon in the spa using the steam room, sauna and jacuzzi, which felt like a mini escape in itself. The treatments are overpriced, so instead of getting a massage we spent a few hours lounging at the spa pool, which is one of three saltwater pools at the Bacara.
The rooms are decorated with Spanish colonial-style flair and feature wood beam ceilings, soaking tubs, flat-screen TVs, and private balconies or patios. Some rooms also have fireplaces and beautiful ocean views. But you probably won’t be spending much time in your room with two oceanfront saltwater pools with rental cabanas, tennis courts, and a Foley wine tasting room. There are walking trails all around the property and a beautiful beach path where you can go for morning jogs along the water. Or you can hit the ocean to swim, kayak or take a surf lesson. There are also multiple dining options, including the new Angel Oak restaurant, which is a modern seafood and steak restaurant that blends locally grown ingredients with innovative techniques to bring you the unique flavors of Santa Barbara County. I enjoyed wine and a delicious lobster dish at sunset, over-looking the ocean, thinking it doesn’t get much better than this.
Be warned: the cocktails at the Bacara are very expensive. A drink at the pool will set you back US $17!
