Nashville is well known for its street art, so much so that many visitors to the city will take a tour or plan their trip around some of the famous murals. Every month new murals and street art pop up over the city, but there are some staples that are a must see when you visit Nashville.
Having lived in Nashville for over a year, I have slowly been discovering the best street art around the city and in this guide I share several of my favorite murals organized by neighborhood with the location of each so you can plan your itinerary to see them all.
Guided Tours
Nashville is a relatively small city with not too much traffic, and lots of free parking so it is easy to get around and see a lot of different neighborhoods in one day.
This makes planning your street art mural tour yourself pretty easy. But if you prefer to take a tour, here are three different guided tours in Nashville that will take you to the best and most famous murals in the city.
- Murals and Mimosas Guided Tour I played tourist in my own city and went on this specific tour that I booked through GetYourGuide. It was a half day small group tour and was a great way to discover some of the lesser known or new murals. At the end of the tour, you get to stop at a donut cafe in East Nashville to enjoy a donut and mimosa tasting making it the perfect tour for a girls trip.
- Street Art and Instagram Golf Cart Tour What better way to explore the city than by golf cart?
- Sights, Street Art & Brewery Tour by Golf Cart This tour encompasses some of Nashville best sights, murals and a stop at a local brewery.
Let’s get into it, here are some of Nashville’s best murals.
12 South
Draper James Window
Not quite a mural, but a popular spot in Nashville that most visitors want to see, this window is on the side of Reese Witherspoon’s Draper James clothing store and has a convenient white bench to pose on!
Location: 2608 12th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37204
Draper James Blue and White Wall
Next to the window and on the side of the Draper James store is a simple blue and white wall that makes a great backdrop for your Insta pics.
Most people take their photos on the bench or at the I Believe In Nashville mural opposite so you won’t have to wait in line and easily grab a quick photo here before moving onto the next murals.
I Believe In Nashville
There are four I Believe In Nashville murals around the city, and an easy one to find is the one in 12 South. It is on the wall directly adjacent to the Draper James window and white and blue wall so you can hit these three spots at the same time.
Location: 2702 12th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37204
Looking Pretty Music City
Another pretty mural in the 12 South area is the Looing Pretty Music City mural, which is located on the side of the Madewell store on Dallas Ave.
12 South is a great area to explore for a hour or two to browse the shops, and stop for coffee or lunch so you are quite likely to pass murals like this one as you explore.
Location: 2702 12th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37204
Nashville Looks Good On You
Located behind the Frothy Monkey cafe you will find the Nashville Looks Good On You Mural. There are a lot of other Nashville Looks Good On You locations around the city including East Nashville, Hillsboro village and Marathon Village.
You can find all the locations on the Nash.TN site.
If you want to see more murals, behind this one there are some murals on the back wall and also while you are exploring 12 South you can also visit the flowers mural.
Location: 2511 12th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37204
Germantown
Kindness Is and Harmony
Germantown is a popular residential area with lots of small shops, restaurants and cafes.
The Kindness Is and Harmony murals are by The Kind Way are side by side in Germantown and easy to find on 4th Avenue North. If you plan to have brunch in while you explore Germantown I recommend Henrietta Red which is right by these two murals.
Location: 1119 4th Ave N, Nashville, TN 37208
Downtown
XO Mural
No visit to Nashville is complete without heading to downtown and Broadway which makes seeing this mural easy.
The XO mural is a giant roses mural is located at Fifth & Broadway and you will see it as you exit the food hall, make sure to stop here for a quick photo before hitting the honkytonks.
Location: 5036 Broadway Place, Nashville, TN 37203
Hillsboro/ Belmont
Drawbertson Drippy Lips Mural
This popular mural by Donald Drawbertson is located in the Hillsboro Village and is a popular spot on any bachelorette tour of Nashville.
When visiting the mural, I recommend stopping for lunch at The Greenery Co. or Fido, you can read my list of favorite brunch spots in Nashville here.
In this area you will also find a couple of Hillsboro Village murals and the Molly Green mural by Tarabella Aversa.
Location: 1814 21st Ave S, Nashville, TN 37212
East Nashville
Dolly Parton
The Dolly Parton mural by Kim Radford is a popular mural over in East Nashville. You can swing by this one first and then go onto the hot air balloon and bear outing murals which are also in East.
Location: 1006 Forrest Avenue, Nashville, TN 37206
What Lifts You – Hot Air Balloon
The What Lifts You Hot Air Balloon mural by Kelsey Montague Art is located in East Nashville and is the largest mural by Kelsey Montague in the city – make sure to check out the artist names when you visit different murals as you will find many are by this artist and have recurring themes featured in them.
The hot air balloon even features a basket so you can hop in for your photos like we did.
Location: 1034 West Eastland Avenue, Nashville, TN 37206
Bear Outing
The Bear Outing mural by Leah Tumerman is on South 11th Street in Five Points.
The mural is quite large and features four bears, but being located next to a parking lot it can be hard to get pictures of this one.
Location: 103 South 11th Street, Nashville, TN 37206
The Gulch
What Lifts You Wings
One of the most popular murals in Nashville are the wings in The Gulch. And with popularity comes queues, expect to have to queue for a while to get your photo taken in front of the wings especially if you are visiting over a weekend.
Location: 302 11th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37203
I personally didn’t fancy waiting for a picture and instead dropped into Kittenish to get some photos of the Nashville Stole My Heart mural. In the store you will also find the You’re Like Really Pretty wall art where you can get some photos with your girlfriends.
Candy Hearts
One of my favorite murals in Nashville is the Candy Hearts by Bryson Beach, this is one of the best murals to head to for a group picture of your bachelorette party or girls group.
Also located in The Gulch this mural can get busy, but if you are lucky there may be no one around when you stop there.
Location: 601 8th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37203
Jason Woodside Mural
Opposite the wings mural and behind the main carpark on 11th Avenue South is a huge Jason Woodside mural. This mural spans an enormous building, and you cannot miss it when you are strolling around The Gulch.
Address: 299 11th Avenue South, Nashville, TN 37203
What Lifts You – The Road To Nashville
After visiting The Wings and the Jason Woodside mural head towards the W hotel where you will find a few newer murals.
The What Lifts You – The Road To Nashwille is another mural by Kelsey Montague. This mural is relatively new and can be found at the back of the W Nashville hotel. The mural depicts a tunnel with a road into music city, with highlights of all the things that Nashville is famous for, country music, The Opry and of course, cowboy boots!
Location: Head to the W and walk behind the back entrance / parking garage entrance to find this mural.
Jimmy Hendrix
Another new mural is this huge Jimmy Hendrix mural which is on the side of the W Nashville hotel which opened in 2021.
To find it you can go to the front of the hotel, walk past The Dutch restaurant and then turn right onto 12th Avenue South.
Location: 300 12th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37203
Nashville
Directly opposite the Jimmy Hendrix mural is another fun, colorful mural emblazoned with the words Nashville. It’s worth crossing the street to snap a picture or two of this piece of street art.
Location: Laurel Street
