Dubrovnik, Croatia is one of the hottest destinations in summer travel. It’s easy to see why Game of Thrones picked Dubrovnik as its backdrop for King’s Landing – the city is undeniably beautiful and looks like it was taken straight from a fairytale. I recently spent 4 days in Dubrovnik and found the perfect hotel to base all of your adventures from at the newly renovated Hotel Bellevue. Keep reading to see why I think you must visit Dubrovnik and stay at the Hotel Bellevue!
ADRIATIC LUXURY HOTELS
Hotel Bellevue is part of the Adriatic Luxury Hotels brand, a collection of 12 hotels and villas based around Dubrovnik. Each of these five-star hotels and villas has its own unique charm and style, and the Hotel Bellevue is no exception. From the moment you pull up to the floor to ceiling glass windows overlooking the Adriatic Sea you know you are in for a special stay!
A NEW HOTEL WITH OLD WORLD CHARM
You can’t go wrong with any of the Adriatic Luxury Hotels’ properties, but Hotel Bellevue is truly a special place to stay. The hotel is located a short 10-minute walk from Old Town Dubrovnik, so you can easily visit during the day and return to your own quiet oasis at night.
Recently renovated and re-opened in Spring 2019, everything in the hotel is brand new. All the details are to the highest luxury standards, from the beautiful lobby, to the smiling staff, to the picturesque rooms!
ROOMS WITH A VIEW
The hotel has 91 beautiful rooms and suites, ranging from the Classic Room all the way up to the Presidential Suites. Each room has a partial sea view at a minimum, which will leave you awestruck. I was lucky enough to stay in one of the absolutely stunning Deluxe Suites, which had a balcony overlooking the private beach and picturesque Adriatic Sea.
THE SUITE LIFE
My Deluxe Suite was furnished in my ideal style, with whites, greys, and taupe accents that look like my dream future apartment. To be honest, I may or may not have snuck some pictures and updated my Pinterest board with inspiration for when I move to California based on the design of the room! Hotel Bellevue describes their rooms as making you feel like you are on a private luxury ocean liner, and I found this description to capture the elegance of the hotel perfectly.
I was content to spend my days sipping a tea on my balcony with a good book, watching the sunset fall behind the beautiful cliffside. The hotel provided several nice amenities in the room, including a complimentary a bottle of wine, a basket of delicious fruit, tea, and coffee. You can also order room service, though I recommend eating your meals in the beautiful hotel restaurant Vapor.
VAPOR RESTAURANT
The in house Vapor Restaurant served some of the best food I had during my entire time in Dubrovnik. The Michelin Guide restaurant is where you will have breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the views are simply outstanding. Breakfast each day consisted of a self-serve buffet with all my favorite items, including plates of cheeses, meats, and fresh pastries. You can also order additional hot items from the menu, including eggs, pancakes, and (my personal favorite) porridge.
I also had a wonderful 3-course lunch at Vapor which is worth a visit even if you aren’t staying in the hotel. We started with a perfectly made monkfish carpaccio and refreshing brie cheese salad with figs and strawberries. Our mains were the specialty John Dory with a rocket risotto and the Veal Fillet with asparagus paired with a delicious summer Rose. Dessert did not disappoint either, with the devilishly good Chocolate Ball and a Grand Marnier Orange Cake. The food and wine were simply spectacular, and the views were some of the best in Dubrovnik!
RELAXATION AT THE SPA AND PRIVATE BEACH
After a great lunch, it’s time to relax for the afternoon. You can go down to the on-site Wellness and Spa area, complete with a freshwater heated indoor pool, Jacuzzi, and plenty of sun loungers. You can also indulge in a treatment from a wide selection in the spa, or work up a sweat in the gym or the Finnish sauna.
If relaxing by the beach is more your speed, then the Hotel Bellevue is perfect. Many beaches in Dubrovnik are overcrowded, but Hotel Bellevue solves this problem with its own private beach exclusively for hotel guests. There are plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas so you don’t need to worry about not getting a spot.
The beach itself is absolutely beautiful, with crystal blue water and underwater rock formations that extend out into the Adriatic. If you are lucky you might even catch some experienced local kids jumping off the rocks into the water below!
A PERFECT LUXURY EXPERIENCE
The entire experience at Hotel Bellevue surpassed all my expectations. Every part of the hotel was amazingly luxurious and comfortable, and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier. It was a great location to base my adventures into Dubrovnik, and I returning after a day of sightseeing to such a calm and picturesque environment was the ideal way to relax. I highly recommend booking a stay at the Hotel Bellevue next time you are in Dubrovnik!
