The Park Hyatt category of hotels represents the most luxurious of the entire Hyatt brand, and after my stay with them in Siem Reap I can see why. Boasting 104 rooms in the heart of Siem Reap, the Park Hyatt is the perfect place to base your Angkor adventures from. It is also one of the most Instagrammable hotels I’ve stayed in, especially their large lagoon style pool, exquisitely decorated tea room, and the nightly cultural performances. Keep reading to find out why the Park Hyatt Siem Reap will satisfy all your luxury hotel needs!
A Gateway To Experience Siem Reap
It is a safe assumption that if you are visiting Siem Reap you will be spending plenty of time at the Angkor temples (and you should!). The Park Hyatt Siem Reap is located an easy 15 minute ride to the front of the temples, making it a very convenient location to explore from. However, the location is ideal well beyond its proximity to Angkor Wat. The hotel is walkable to many other locations, including the Angkor Night Market, the French Colonial Quarter, and the National Museum. The hotel has plenty going on inside of it as well, from nightly cultural shows, afternoon tea, spa experiences and themed dinners!
A Place To Relax
Siem Reap and Angkor Wat are incredibly unique and inspiring places, but the crowds and heat can also be exhausting. Luckily, the Park Hyatt was the perfect place to rest and recharge especially during the midday heat. One of my favourite parts of my stay was simply having some downtime in the beautiful hotel grounds, whether that meant sipping a drink by the pool, taking photos in one of the many nooks, or having a relaxing massage.
Luxury Comforts
Once you make it upstairs to your room, you’ll see that they are all up to the same five-star standards as the exterior of the hotel. The design is in a beautiful Cambodian inspired style, with metal artwork trees reflecting those you see throughout Angkor Wat. The bathrooms are especially luxurious, with Italian marble and double sinks, which is always appreciated by my boyfriend when getting ready! All the other comforts you would expect are there as well, from a great HDTV, to a Nespresso coffee machine, to a super comfortable bed which made falling asleep after a long day of site-seeing a cinch.
Fine Dining At The Park Hyatt
Nobody wants to go exploring ancient ruins on an empty stomach, so the Park Hyatt’s massive breakfast buffet gives you the morning fuel you’ll need. Each morning we had a wonderful spread which was the perfect way to start the (very) early days. The hotel even made us a “to go” breakfast pack for our 4:30 am sunrise day, which shows how great their customer service was! For an afternoon treat, be sure to try the Afternoon Tea experience in the gorgeous Living Room venue, where you can take some great pictures while enjoying all sorts of yummy teas and treats.
When dinner time comes around, be sure to book a table at the aptly named Dining Room restaurant in the hotel. They serve a wonderful mix of French and Cambodian dishes in their gorgeous indoor/outdoor venue. I recommend making a 7:00 pm reservation at one of the outdoor tables so you can enjoy the nightly cultural performance. All of the local products are sourced from nearby markets so they are extremely fresh while supporting the local economy. I particularly liked the set menus, which start at a very reasonable $25!
Giving Back To The Community
The Park Hyatt is clearly a wonderful place to stay, but they also do wonderful work in their own community. The hotel has two programs that I found particularly impressive. The first is the Park Hyatt’s partnership with the Life and Hope Association, where the hotel works with the LHA Sewing School to teach young and disadvantaged Cambodian women a marketable skill to support themselves. Over the course of 10 months, each student learns over 50 different sewing skills and is given their own sewing machine to help start their own businesses upon graduation.
The second program is called Everything’s Gonna Be OK (EGBOK), where the hotel trains local students to work in the hospitality industry. The program supports 10 local interns each year to learn at the Park Hyatt, teaching them skills all across many of the hotel functions, including Culinary, Food & Beverage, and Housekeeping. The students are then prepared to go on to full-time roles at major hotels across Cambodia. To date, the Park Hyatt has hired 10 students from its own program as full-time employees, with more receiving employment at other hotels!
A Perfect Cambodian Experience
Everything about the Park Hyatt Siem Reap reflected their five-star reputation. All of the food was delicious, the rooms were beyond comfortable, and the amenities were superb. I especially enjoyed my mid-day time relaxing by the pool! As you would expect, the customer service is wonderful as well, with smiling faces greeting you at every turn. If you are looking for a true five-star stay during your time in Siem Reap, then look no farther than a room at the Park Hyatt!
