If you are a big traveler, especially in Southeast Asia, chances are you will visit Kuala Lumpur at some point. Whether for a quick layover or a multiple day excursion, there is plenty to do to keep you entertained. During my last visit to KL I was lucky enough to stay at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, and in this post I’m so excited to share why you should stay with them too!
Background
The Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur is a beautiful 5-star hotel perfectly located in the middle of the Golden Triangle. With 412 rooms, including 42 suites, you can find the perfect room for your budget. The Grand Hyatt takes full advantage of its ideal location, with tall windows scattered throughout to show off its impressive view of the iconic Petronas Towers. If you can, I would highly recommend upgrading to one of the Tower View rooms to be able to see them from the comfort of your bed, which was truly an amazing experience!
The Rooms
Each one of the Grand Hyatt’s many rooms are filled with the luxury and comfort you would expect to find in a 5-star hotel. This includes beautiful modern furnishings, floor to ceiling windows in each room, and wooden parquet flooring. The rooms are also some of the largest in Kuala Lumpur, starting at 505 square feet, which gives plenty of room for all of the shopping you’ll likely do!
When it’s time to turn in for the night, you’ll definitely appreciate the ultra-luxurious bedding and mattress. The sheets (and robes!) are incredibly comfortable which is even more appreciated after a long day of walking the streets of KL. There’s even an oversized desk in the rooms, which I fully appreciated to get some work done on the fast wi-fi before calling it a night!
But one of the best features of the room is the layout with the bath and shower room centrally located behind the bed, so even from there, you can look out through the glass towards to the Petronas Towers! (Don’t worry there is also a fade button that makes the glass frosted if you prefer privacy!)
The Amenities
Once you make it out of your room, you’ll begin to see how much else is offered in the hotel as well. There are 3 dining options in the hotel, including Malaysian inspired restaurant JP teres, complete with a show kitchen and island bar, the aptly named Poolside restaurant for a quick bite while lounging by the pool, and THIRTY8, a gorgeous restaurant and sky bar which is a must-do for a sunset cocktail overlooking the city. Be sure to budget plenty of time to indulge in all the different options offered at the breakfast buffet, also at THIRTY8, which had one of the largest spreads I’ve ever seen!
After you’ve had your fill of food, I would recommend laying out by the beautiful outdoor pool if the weather permits. The pool is surrounded by lush green plants, transforming it into a tropical oasis in the middle of the city. The most impressive thing about this area is the incredible view of the Petronas Towers. There are also separate adult and children pools, so you can find the exact type of environment you are looking for.
If you prefer to relax with an indoor whirlpool instead, then you can head to Essa Spa. This private and quiet area is great to decompress, especially if you combine it with a massage or one of the many other treatments offered at the Spa. There is also a steam and sauna offered to all guests, as well as a 24-hour fitness center so you can pick your preferred way to work up a sweat.
The Location
One of my other favourite parts of staying at the Grand Hyatt, besides all the amazing amenities, was the perfect location in the middle of Kuala Lumpur. Situated right in the heart of the Golden Triangle, the Grand Hyatt is a short walk from many of the best sites in KL. This includes the Petronas Towers, Suria KLCC Shopping Mall, the Aquaria KLCC, and Kuala Lumpur City Park. It is also a short drive to many of the other tourist attractions, including the must-see Batu Caves, and the concierge was extremely helpful in booking transportation and making recommendations of what to see!
As you can tell, I was extremely impressed with my stay at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur. When you book at a Grand Hyatt you know you will be getting the best in comfort and service, and their Kuala Lumpur hotel exceeded all of my expectations!
