Last week, co-founder Becky van Dijk announced she will be leaving We Are Travel Girls to pursue other entrepreneurial ventures. While we will miss her very much, she will always be part of We Are Travel Girls, and I’m humbled to have the opportunity to lead our community into the next chapter.
To echo Becky’s sentiments, I’m incredibly proud of the community we’ve built together over the past seven years thanks to your support. We created We Are Travel Girls with the simple mission to promote and elevate the voices of female travelers. Since launch, we have published travel stories and guides from hundreds of female travel writers around the globe that have helped empower women to travel the world with confidence.
We also dreamed of bringing together travel-loving women in person as well as online. So I’m excited to announce that as the new CEO, I’m going to be focusing my energy on re-launching Travel Girls Getaways and hosting more in-person WATG Events in Los Angeles (where I live) and other cities around the world.
I’m passionate about giving back, so I’m also committed to using our platform to support and raise money for charity. We’ve supported charities through Travel Girls Giving in the past, and I’m excited to re-invigorate our charitable efforts with our impact trips, community fundraising, and our Charities We Love features.
At its core, We Are Travel Girls is about community, so I will also be re-launching our Ambassador Program, bringing on a handful of new ambassadors to write for us and co-host our events and trips.
If you’re interested in becoming an ambassador, have a charity you’d like us to support, want us to consider your city for our next event, or if you have suggestions or questions please email me: [email protected].
This is our community, I’m so grateful to be part of it, and I can’t wait to see where we can take We Are Travel Girls in the coming years – together.
