This past month I was welcomed to the beautiful Ayodya Resort in Nusa Dua, Bali. After spending 4 days on Nusa Lembongan in a more budget style accommodation, the luxurious atmosphere was a welcome change of pace. Nestled in the Nusa Dua resort area, the Ayodya is a sprawling 5 star beach front hotel with all of the amenities one could ask for (and then some!). I’m so excited to share what made my experience at the Ayodya so special in this post:
THE RESORT
When I first arrived at the Ayodya I was simply blown away by the size and quality of the resort. After driving past the friendly security guards at the front gate, I was greeted by an incredible set of fountains and sculptures before arriving at the lobby.
The main lobby itself is also an awe-inspiring site, with a tall reaching triangle ceiling and many impressive statutes scattered throughout. Our gracious host Bagus told me that traditional culture is a central theme throughout the hotel, and explained the fascinating Hindu story about Ramayana depicted by the statutes in the hotel. Given that Bali has so much culture, I found it really nice that the hotel was able to combine the modern amenities of a 5 star resort with the history that makes Bali such a special place.
THE ROOM AT AYODYA
After touring the grounds I was taken to my stunning room in the Ayodya Palace tower. There are 541 total rooms in the Ayodya and each one has its own private balcony which is always appreciated. The 4 types of rooms are the Deluxe, Grand, Palace, and Suite Rooms. You can’t go wrong with any of the rooms, as even the Deluxe rooms were exceptionally nice, but if you are looking to treat yourself I can highly recommend upgrading to the Palace rooms.
The Ayodya Palace rooms are located in their own wing of the hotel located near the beach. As expected, these rooms are more spacious, include a separate bath tub and extra-large balcony. There is also a complimentary minibar that is refilled everyday which is another great inclusion.
THE AYODA PALACE AMENITIES
The real perk of the Ayodya Palace rooms is the access to the Palace amenities. These amenities include an incredible breakfast buffet each morning, complete with an omelet and pancake chef, amazing pastries, fresh fruits, juices, and just about anything else you could hope to start your day with. After breakfast you can lounge by the Palace pool which is only open to guests staying in the Palace rooms, and it includes complimentary drinks throughout the day.
The Palace also includes complimentary daily afternoon tea, complete with your choice of coffees, teas, and yummy cakes and sandwiches. This was a great way to wind down from a busy day and relax before the evening. Finally, a stay at the Palace also includes evening cocktails and canapes, which served as a perfect time for some pre-dinner wine. If it sounds like you wouldn’t ever need to leave the Palace and simply eat and relax there all day, you would be right! However, the rest of the grounds of the hotel are equally as impressive and worth exploring as well.
THE ACTIVITIES
No matter what you look for in a vacation, whether it’s taking a swim in the pool, relaxing on the beach with a good book, getting a massage in the spa, dropping the little ones off at the Kids’ camp, or watching a cultural dance performance, the Ayodya has you covered. The sheer size of the resort means it never feels crowded and you can always find a chair by the pool or the beach. No worries about waking up early just to snag that perfect sun lounger because there are plenty to go around!
There are 4 swimming pools, including an amazing infinity pool leading onto the beach which is a perfect Instagram spot. If you want some more physical activity, you can rent surfboards and kayaks from the beach front shop and take them out in the crystal blue water.
The Ayodya also has a dinner and cultural dance show in their outdoor Balinese theater three times a week which is definitely worth checking out. There is also a full spa for any treatments, including massages, yoga, and facials. Sufficient to say you won’t find yourself bored during your stay!
THE FOOD
One of my other favourite parts of any hotel stay is trying all the food, and the Ayodya certainly didn’t disappoint in this category either. There are a total of 9 (!!) different places to eat and drink, including 6 restaurants and 3 bars/lounges. There is every type of food you could want, including Indonesian, Italian, Fusion, and Seafood. I had a particularly enjoyable meal at “Genji”, an authentic Japanese restaurant where I tried my very first Teppanyaki experience which was wonderful! Nothing beats having your food cooked right in front of you by an enthusiastic chef, complete with perfectly grilled meats and salt and pepper shakers flying at lightning speed.
A special mention has to be made for the beach front Romantic Dinner organised by the Ayodya for my boyfriend and I, which felt like a scene straight from the Bachelor! There is only one table setup directly on the beach each night, complete with candles, rose petals, and crashing waves in the background. The Ayodya is a top destination for weddings and honeymoons, and with the attention to detail shown during their romantic dinner experience I can fully understand why!
For lunch there are several options to choose from around the resort, but the Lagoona restaurant overlooking the ocean is one of the prettiest spots to dine. With a menu that offers wood fired pizzas and meats cooked in a smoke oven, this is certainly a favourite for meat-lovers.
THE SERVICE
Last but not least, the service at the Ayodya was outstanding throughout my stay. From the very first person I encountered checking in, to the housekeeping twice a day, to all of the wait staff at the restaurants and bars, it was clear Ayodya has made customer service it’s top priority. Every person working at the hotel was genuinely happy to help you with whatever you would need.
This was evident by chatting with some of the employees, one of whom was the incredibly friendly manager of the beach bar who had been working there for 24 years! He shared how he thoroughly enjoyed his job and interacting with the guests on their vacations. Little touches like this really added to the warmth of the atmosphere and made my stay so enjoyable.
OVERALL
It goes without saying that I would highly recommend staying at the Ayodya next time you are in Bali. The hotel itself is beautiful, there is an incredible amount to do, and the service was second to none. The Ayodya has something for everyone, whether you are looking for the perfect place to get married or traveling with your children for a week away. I had such a good time staying at the Ayodya and cannot wait to return in the future!
