As sustainability is coming to the forefront of travel and becoming an impact factor in consumers’ decisions when they travel and make purchases, an easy way to become a more responsible traveler is to carry a reusable/refillable water bottle.
Our favorite bottle for any adventure-seeking traveler is the Avana bottle, a range of stylish bottles and cups created with patented technology and the ability to keep your drinks cool for 24hrs and hot for 12hrs.
Sustainability doesn’t have to just come when you travel, it can be implemented at home and every time you leave the house. Refilling your water bottle before you leave and get it topped up on the go, many coffee shops are now happy to refill your bottle from the tap reducing your single-use plastic consumption dramatically.

Why We Love These Water Bottles
I have tried lots of water bottles over the years, cheap ones, expensive ones, ones that spill water all over me when I drink from them! But overall I have not found one that is truly great that combines all the features that I am looking for: stylish design, reduced spilling, keeping water cool or hot and that is easy to take along with you.
I have travelled to a few places with my Avana bottles and what I love most about them in hot climates is that the bottle keeps the water cold for up to 24 hours. During my latest trip to Malawi during a heatwave with 40+ degree temperatures, this was surely appreciated!
After Malawi, I went to Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania for the Christmas Markets in December where temperatures were quite the opposite so I made use of the bottle’s ability to keep my drinks hot for up to 12 hours! (I may or may not have used the Avana bottle for hot wine to take out to the Christmas Market with me!
Another feature I particularly appreciate is the carry loop on the Ashbury and Beckridge bottles. This makes hand carrying the bottles easy, as well as the option to tie these onto your backpack with a carabiner.
Sustainability
Our plastic water bottle use around the world has become a serious issue and in 2019 became a real focus in the war against single-use plastics.
“Humans buy about 1,000,000 plastic bottles per minute in total and only about 23% of plastic bottles are recycled within the U.S. Single-use-plastics frequently do not make it to a landfill or are recycled. A full 32% of the 78 million tons of plastic packaging produced annually is left to flow into our oceans; the equivalent of pouring one garbage truck of plastic into the ocean every minute. This is expected to increase to two per minute by 2030 and four per minute by 2050. By 2050, this could mean there will be more plastic than fish in the world’s oceans. Choosing to buy products with less packaging or no packaging altogether makes a big difference.” Source: EarthDay.org.
With statistics like this, we can clearly see the problem we have with plastic consumption. This issue is not confined to just water bottles but it’s all single-use packaging, plastic bags, and even plastic toys or products that wind up in landfills or our oceans.
As consumers, we all need to look at our daily lives to see how we can contribute to reversing or at least stalling this growing plastic pollution problem. Whether this is with the simple purchase of a reusable water bottle and coffee cup, or changing where you shop and the products that you buy, every little step helps and together can make an impact.
Avana Gives
Around the world today, 1 in 10 people still do not have access to clean water and Avana wants to contribute to changing this by making a donation to water projects around the world for every purchase of a water bottle.
But what’s really cool about this is that you can track exactly where your contribution is going! Every bottle contains a donation code that allows you to track actual water projects – you simply go to the Avana Gives page copy in your unique code and see exactly where your money is going.
Avana Gives gives works in the following way:
- Step 1 – Purchase A Bottle: Avana donates a portion of all sales to a general water projects fund.
- Step 2 – Proceeds Donated: Avana collaborates with non-profits to directly sponsor water projects in developing villages and communities.
- Step 3 – Track Your Project: Every Avana bottle has a code tied to a specific water project, so you can see for yourself the difference you’re making.
Fighting the plastic epidemic is all of our responsibility, and I am proud to support a brand like Avana that gives back and is making a real difference to combat plastic pollution!
