Tijili Hotel, located in the popular tourist town of Seminyak Bali, is the perfect place to stay if you are looking for a nice yet affordable hotel in Bali. If you follow me on Instagram you will have noticed that I’ve been traveling through Bali over the last few weeks, and last week I had the opportunity to extend my stay to surf and work on We Are Travel Girls with fellow Founder Becky van Dijk, and plan our WATG Bali Meet Up! Tijili Hotel proved to be the perfect place to stay, work, and have fun, and we both loved this cute, boutique hotel so much that I had to share the highlights with you. Here are 13 reasons why you will love Tijili Hotel.
1) THE PRICE
Tijili Hotel has 110 rooms and suites, starting at just USD 60 for a basic, deluxe room. I was amazed at how clean and spacious the basic rooms are for the price, as well as the amenities that are included. Deluxe rooms have: a flat screen TV, a desk, a dresser, a safe, an updated bathroom with a rainfall shower, a comfortable king size bed, a mini fridge, 24-hour room service, and an in-room alarm system that beeps if you forget to close your door, helping to keep you and your belongings safe!
2) THE DECOR
The lobby area, restaurant, lounge and bar are decorated with hip, colorful, “Instagramable” decor perfect for taking way too many photos!
3) LOCATION
Just a five-minute walk to Seminyak Beach, and walking distance to many of the best boutiques and restaurants, Tijili Hotel is in the perfect location for travelers looking to be in the midst of everything going on in the popular tourist area of Seminyak. (If you are looking for a more low-key Bali experience I recommend staying on Jimbaran Bay, Canggu or up in Ubud).
4) SURFING
If you love surfing, Seminyak Beach offers a fun beach break for beginners. Or you can head a half mile down the beach to Legian, where the waves tend to be a little better for intermediate surf. (For even better waves head south to Dreamland, Balangan or Uluwatu or north to Canggu). There are surf rental shacks all up and down Seminyak Beach as well as fun beach bars where you can grab a bear and watch the sunset after your surf session. The most famous beach bar in Seminyak is La Placha, but we opted for a less crowded bar right next door called Bali Juice Park.
5) SEMINYAK RESTAURANTS
One of the best parts about staying at Tijili Hotel is that it is walking distance to great shopping and great restaurants in Seminyak. For lunch try Sea Circus, Shelter, Dusty and Motel Mexicola. For good food in a nice atmosphere try Cafe Bali and Sarong for dinner. And you have to stop by La Favela for drinks at least once during your stay. The decor can be deceiving – it looks like a chill, upscale restaurant and bar, but after 11PM they move all the tables out and the entire place turns into a crazy party!
6) KAKATUM RESTAURANT BAR & LOUNGE
Kakatum Restaurant & Lounge, inside the hotel, offers good buffet breakfast every morning from 7:30 – 10:30AM that can be added to your stay for just $5 extra per day. We had dinner here one night, and the food was very good. The bar offers a wide range of spirits and is very cute and colorful, and they also serve food and drinks poolside.
7) THE POOL LOUNGE AREA AT TIJILI SEMINYAK
One of my favorite things about staying at Tijili Hotel is the pool area that has oversized lounge seats overlooking the sun deck and restaurant, perfect for relaxing or working. Becky and I snagged seats here daily and took advantage of the electrical outlets, working on our laptops in the shade, while still sitting outside in a chill, poolside atmosphere.
8) HIGH-SPEED INTERNET
The Wi-Fi works great here which is a huge plus as it’s hard to find good high-speed internet in Bali!
9) 24-HOUR ROOM SERVICE
It’s pretty rare to stay at a budget hotel that offers 24-hour room service so this is a huge plus, especially if you are jet-lagged from your travels and want some food in the middle of the night!
10) SAFETY
As a girl, staying in a room on my own, I felt 100% safe the entire time I was at Tijili Hotel.
11) SPA BALI
Tijili Hotel offers in-room spa services, but just across the street you will find Spa Bali, which offers luxury spa services at crazy cheap prices. I had a massage here after a long surf session and it was heaven!
12) THE STAFF AT TIJILI HOTEL
The staff at Tjili are extremely professional and nice. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but upon arrival I felt like I was being greeted at a high-end, luxury hotel. A bellman, who had a big smile on his face, quickly came out to the taxi to help me with my bags and the front desk agent, who also had a welcoming smile, pulled up my reservation without delay and checked me in within minutes. Throughout my week-long stay, every single staff member that I encountered was extremely kind and professional, making me feel welcome and special.
13) RESERVATIONS MADE EASY
When I reserved my room online at tijili-hotel.com I was very surprised that they did not require a credit card to hold the reservation. I was actually pretty worried that I would show up and there would be no hotel room for me, so I emailed Tijili and one of their staff promptly emailed back and assured me that they had my reservation. A few days later, I showed up and my room was indeed waiting for me, at which point I finally handed them my credit card. I don’t know about you, but I have never been able to reserve a room without giving my card details. For a travel girl this is such a cool feature, as it allows you to change your reservation prior to arrival, without being charged for the change.
